Buffalo pituitary gonadotropins: characterization of bacterially expressed recombinant alpha and hormone specific beta subunits. World Journal Life Science and Medical Research. 2013;3(1):1-7. Buffalo pituitary gonadotropin alpha subunit was expressed in E.coli as a recombinant protein from its cDNA constructed from pituitary RNA. Similarly the beta subunits of buffalo pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) were cloned and expressed in E.coli. The bacterially expressed non-glycosylated recombinant proteins were purified on Ni-affinity columns and characterized to some extent for physicochemical properties. All the proteins were expressed without their respective signal peptides.

P-198: Utilization of Pichia Pastoris Secretion System for Expression of Equine Follicle Stimulating Hormone
Background: Equine follicle stimulating hormone (eFSH) is a pituitary heterodimeric glycoprotein consists of noncovalently linked of generic alpha subunit and a hormone specific beta subunit. The molecular weights of the subunits are similar and about 16 KD. In general, FSH plays a key role in controlling vertebrate gonadal functions. In female mammals, ovarian maturation and follicular growth ...

The gonadotropins, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), are important hormones in vertebrate reproduction. The isolation of gonadotropins from the pituitary gland is sub-optimal, as the cross-contamination of one hormone with another is common and often results in the variation in the measured activity of LH and FSH. The production of recombinant hormones is, therefo...
متن کاملP-205: Production of Recombinant Fish FSH Hormone in Pichia Pastoris
Background: Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) belongs to the family of glycoprotein hormones that composing alpha and beta subunits with non-covalently bonds. This hormone involve in regulation of the reproductive processes such as gamete generation and follicular growth. Injection of the hormone in most of fish species increases 17 beta-estradiol production by ovarian tissue and also stimulat...
متن کاملExpression of bovine follicle-stimulating hormone subunits in a Hansenula polymorpha expression system increases the secretion and bioactivity in vivo.
Bovine follicle-stimulating hormone (bFSH), a pituitary gonadotropin, is a heterodimer hormone that consists of a common alpha-subunit non-covalently associated with the hormone-specific beta-subunit. Unfortunately, expression levels of recombinant bFSH or its subunits are invariably low. We report here the secretory expression of biologically active bFSHalpha and bFSHbeta subunit in the methyl...
متن کاملGonadotropin beta subunits determine the rate of assembly and the oligosaccharide processing of hormone dimer in transfected cells
The glycoprotein hormones lutropin (LH) and chorionic gonadotropin (CG) share a common structure consisting of an identical alpha subunit noncovalently linked to a hormone-specific beta subunit. While LH is produced in the anterior pituitary, CG is synthesized in placenta. To compare the assembly, processing, and secretion of human LH and CG in the same cell type, we have expressed their subuni...
